Susanna Bernschein is an experienced expert in destination development and city marketing. In her role as Head of Destination Development at visitBerlin, she actively shapes the future of the capital as an attractive and sustainable destination. With more than 15 years of experience, she brings in-depth knowledge in the strategic planning and implementation of projects to promote Berlin’s touristic attractiveness.
Her focus is on the urban, sustainable and inclusive development of Berlin as a destination that both inspires visitors and meets the needs of the local community. To this end, she works intensively with many of the city’s stakeholders and the economic development agencies in Berlin’s 12 districts. At the BTO in Florence, she will be speaking on the panel ‘DMOcracy: people have the power. Siamo tutti turisti’, she will talk about how destination development can be made more democratic. She will shed light on how citizens can be more involved in planning in order to create a destination that not only benefits tourists, but also the locals.
